- criminal justice agencies
- voluntary and charity organisations
- contracted partners
Criminal Justice agency partnerships:
Multi Agency Public Protection Panel
Only about 20 of the UK's most serious and violent offenders will never be released from prison. The remainder of serious offenders will be released at the legal end of their sentence. The vast majority will not re-offend.
However there is a small but significant minority that are at risk of re-offending. These people are supervised under the Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) from the point that they leave prison. The arrangements consist of a number of panels of professionals from the probation and prison services, the police, local authority and health service representatives and victim representatives.
The panels will do everything possible to minimise the chance of an individual re-offending. They will organise treatment or counselling for addiction problems or mental health and in the case of sex offenders they will ensure that their employment or social activities cannot bring them into contact with children. In extreme situations they may place an offender under surveillance.
Surrey Criminal Justice Board (SCJB)
The Board is made up of the key agencies involved in criminal justice including probation, Surrey Police, Her Majesty's Court Services, the Prison Service, and the Crown Prosecution Service.
It has a number of responsibilities including increasing public confidence in criminal justice, bringing more offenders to justice and ensuring that criminal justice in the county works in an effective and joined up way. ( Link to SCJB Website)

Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships (CDRPS)
Each of Surrey's 11 districts has a CDRP. This is a group comprised of all of the lead agencies involved in reducing crime including local authorities, the police and the probation service. (Link to CDRP Website)
Voluntary and Charity Organisations
The National Probation Service works closely with organisations that provide work placements for offenders carrying out unpaid work. These organisations include charities, schools, elderly persons homes, community centres and places of worship.Â
Contracted partners
We have contracts with a number of companies and organisations that provide services to us for offenders and for managing sentences.Â
All of the partners with whom we enter contracts must work on the principles of providing best value and send us regular information about their performance against the targets that we set them.
We also have close links with the Learning and Skills Council concerning the provision of education to offenders.
