Probation Officer

Probation officers will possess a Diploma in Social Work or the new qualification of Diploma in Probation Studies.  Probation officers use their strong analytical and reasoning skills and sound judgment to influence people to change their attitudes and behaviour which lead to offending.  Probation officers work in one of the two specialist areas, Offender Management or Interventions.

Staff working within Offender Management are responsible for the development of an offender's sentence plan and their overall supervision.  Interventions staff organise and/or deliver the requirements of an Order such as Unpaid Work and Programmes.
