Our Responsibilities:

We work in Courts, Prisons and the community.

• In the Courts we provide accurate information and expert advice to influence the sentencing process
• In the community we implement and enforce the community sentences passed by the courts
• In Prisons we work with prisoners in custody and after release on licence.
• We confront and challenge offenders' behaviour and attitudes by planning and delivering effective programmes aimed at changing offending behaviour.

At all times we make careful assessments of the risks to the public.  If offenders do not comply with the terms of their orders or licences, they are referred back to the courts and risk being sent to prison.

We co-operate with other criminal justice agencies, social services, youth, health, education and other voluntary and professional agencies to fulfil our responsibilities.
